This past week Daily Eats made rounds around Greater Phoenix area. I attended cheerful parties, networking events, Greater Phoenix Democrat BBQs and a farewell to Enterprise with a pizza party.May 10, Tuesday, I attended the 99AZ-networking event hosted at the lovely 6 Lounge and Restaurant in Scottsdale. Roughly 50 people attended from a wide variety of industries each hoping for the same thing: an opportunity to do business. I met 20% of the 50 people who showed up. Stu Keller and Tom Mattingly of Network Realty; Mike Brown, Valley Transportation Group; Bill Sommer, Dale Carnegie Training; Erik Rich, Shred-it; Mark Guthrie, Vista; Denzil Von Wald, Farmers; Joe Whittington, GHA Technologies; Rodney Kinney and Keith R of Maesche; Bob Denton, Computer Literacy Resources. Travis Logan, Valley Transportation Group is new president of 99AZ did an awesome job of bringing people together to network for business and kept the enthusiasm a live. I must go back a write a proper review of 6 I hear the food is awesome.
May 13, Friday, night pizza and beer and farewell to the Enterprise. I am a Trekie at heart, but I have to admit I did not like the Enterprise. It was a huge deviation from the original opening format probably alienating the diehard trekies who love the classical opening. I also felt Scott Bakula was completely miscast as the captain. Nothing personal, but we women watch the Star Trek series for the romance affect, and honestly Scott just had very little sex appeal. Scott tried so hard he's a great actor, but sexy is Willian Shatner or Patrick Stewart. Over all the acting, directing and writing was excellent especially episodes written and directed by Andre Bormanis.
Much to my surprise, my dear friend, Peter Weller, guest starred in the Terra Prime a two-part episode that rocked. After watching it the series elevated, but too little too late. Weller may have been the much needed Hail Mary Enterprise could have used early on. The final episode was full of old connections that should have used early on to make the much needed brand crossover.

From Tery Spataro's memory bank: Seeing Peter Weller brought back memories of our time together in New Haven, I was a young aspiring artist, his career was just beginning to skyrocket, we hung out while he was starring in "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof". One evening he read to me "Naked Lunch" by William Burroughs, in the 24-hour bookstore, opening my eyes to a new world in literature. He is a true romantic at heart. I have to admit those cold steel blues are far more lovely in person.
May 14, Saturday morning to mid afternoon (photos). Who says Democrats can't party down at a BBQ? Well we know this party is the most fun, the smartest, and enlightened. May 14, Saturday evening (photos), a wonderful Second Saturdays at Bob and Rachel Woodburn's home. Conversations varied from wide variety of topics including: vascular diseases, quantum physics I was very impressed that David used so many of the books I read to teach his college physics class, art & photography, snakes yes snakes, food oh my food, grandchildren, Willie Nelson and Dennis Hopper, and new business. That's what I call exceptionally tasty fodder for thought. The culinary delights were as wide-ranging as the conversation. Cookies to soup to chicken wings to tasty orange cheese to ice cream puff.
Last time I was there Rachel took us through her portfolio of beautiful photographs, well this time it was Bob's turn. His portrait works allow the viewer to see into the very soul of the subject capturing a instance so fine it completely explains his/her personality. I'm looking forward to the next Second Saturdays.
