Esther Dyson - Serious Food for Thinkers!

Jane Larson wrote a very compelling article in this past Sunday's Arizona Republic on front-page (041005) illustrating why Arizona is losing ground in technology . Jane nails it nicely by listing the critical points of how a sector grows and provides insight in how to make it happen. It really is all about making those relationships and connecting to the people whom have those connections both inside state and out bound.

I wondered why prop 102 failed to pass I have a feeling people were confused as to why it was necessary. The average person probably couldn't make the linkage back to how prop 102 effects them and their children. It helps to make industries grow in Arizona which means jobs which means progress and Arizona needs progress or it will get held back. To answer Jane's rhetorical question "can we make our own luck?" I answer, no, not in a globally connected world the odds are not in the favor of luck!


Which leads to me to my Daily Eats column on Esther Dyson, PC Form, and Flight School. The most important and impressive conference on innovate technology convenes in Phoenix. It boasts of impactful technology innovators, investors and pundits. Esther Dyson provides this forum every year it happens right here in Phoenix! Right here in our own backyard for almost a week we have access to some of the most brilliant minds and money.

I met Renee Edelman there for the last part of the event at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Renee, always lovely and generous offered me an opportunity to meet some of the greatest minds. I appreciate Esther Dyson and Daphne Kis allowing me a short visit. The list of impressive speakers to numerous to list here is always outstanding. The end of event concluded with remarkable evening filled with meaningful conversation from business to space, yes outer space. This was the true making of food for thought. And I got to see some old friend Adeo Ressi, Gametrust, and Sandy Cohen, Send Word Now. Later that evening I enjoyed relaxing conversation and libations with Renee Edelman, Adeo Ressi, Michael Kupperman and Sandy Cohen, who recapped their experiences at PC Forum.
